Friends

Ok this is the second time I have typed this today, my Internet just sucked the last one into cyber space. I had little time to play today because the contractors didn't come till afternoon to pull out the carpet & padding. My card for today is SU old olive cardstock with Sizzex texture paper, vellum oval and then SU pumpkin pie cs. I used a tiny little leaf punch to put fall leaves all over and my Sizzlets dies to punch out 'friends', a little braided cording across the front and I was done. Fast and cute.
Now for my good news! Well I doubt I'll be saying that next Friday when I'll be in so much pain but in the long run it will be good news. I received a call from Lorie at Dr. Ballards office today to ask if I would like to re-schedule my right hip replacement surgery to next Friday, October 9th. I really want to do this since its bone on bone and it hurts like heck when I walk. I had to ask my daughter since I really trust her judgement. Vicki just had her stroke and she really can't physically help me out but I totally understand that. Then I called my brother in Missouri, lets just say that tomorrow I will be checking into short term nursing homes for mother.
I have 3 lists started already of things to do and questions to ask tomorrow while I'm setting everything up. I will not be able to blog for a few weeks but then I know your thoughts and prayers will be with me.
I'll keep updating everyone until I go to the hospital.
Until then God Bless all of you.

Spruce up!

Wow today I was so busy making cards and having a blast in my studio. I started early at about 10:30 and I finished my tin to hold my Big Shot dies I love this paper from SU and I love Fall so this was perfect to get me started making fall cards.

Oh but fix your Studio for the Big Shot and all the fixin's so I made a sign to go with my Magnetic board I picked up at Big Lots Saturday. My stupid wall won't accept the magnetic tape that I put up, oh it set fine for Becky when she put it there but anyway after numerous attempts to hang the tape up I finally bought this board for a mere $5.00 and it will work just fine, now just to get the Nestabilities to go on them.
God Bless you all for reading and commenting on my Blog, love ya!!!

Sunday - Sunday

Since I honestly didn't work in my studio today on cards I had to dig into my stash for a card to display. Golly geez I love this card technique using
Utee over and over and over. This is SU card stock, and DSP from some years ago, and the mysterious crinkled paper is wax paper that I used to transfer patterns onto card stock and I liked the wax paper so much I used it on this card. I got this image from Sandy and its from SNS stamps I colored it with Copic's of coarse and then .....used versamark on the whole image, covered it with Utee and then heated it over and over and over. Then when I liked it I quit put a ribbon on the card and waaaaaa laaaaaa cute card. I feel bad cause I say cute card that sounds kinda egotistical but is it?
I watch the counter on the blog and I'm getting quite a few hits but very few comments so come on lets for for ten (10) comments on this please. Oh and one more thing I won't mind if you sign up to be a follower and get automatic updates, actually I'd be honored!
God bless you all, love ya.

Dressed to the best!

I have gotten several cards with this dress pattern on it and finally figured out how to scallop the edges. I made the first card out of some paper that I down loaded from the Gina K design website I love blue & brown together. The card is SU and so is the small dots in Chocolate DSP. I scalloped the edge of the card and then inserted a small strip of Chocolate small dots on the inside of the card. I had some perfectly matched ribbon to go along the waist and around the hat. And the mini butterfly how totally sweet. I need to fine tune the hat I thinks its a little big for the size of the dress.
This second card is my favorite I love the halter strap or ribbon. Its so cute with the double scallops at the top & bottom of the dress. This is some downloaded paper again from Gina K. Like I said I love the pink & brown combo also and this was so much fun to make. Now I find the easiest way to scallop the top and bottom of the dress is to use my Giga oval scalloped punch its so much easier than the border punch.
Last card I used SU cardstock and yes SU DSP. Then I used a Cuttlebug folder for the second layer. The ribbon was some I found at Michael's for a $1 and its a perfect match to this paper. I didn't even realize the hat had all brown on it until I pulled up the picture on the computer tonight. So much for my coordinating habits, I think these are darling cards and can be used for so many occasions. How cute would these be for birthday invites for your daughters, if you wanted they could be brides maid cards with the color of the dress the same as the real one. Thank you Michele and especially Rhonda for sending me the darling cards and Rhonda for the dress pattern. Now go try making one!
Ok all of you have a wonderful Sunday and if you think about it send someone a RAK just because.
God Bless.

Trick or Treat

I made these cards the other day when I bought the Halloween paper. I was just piecing paper together and then used 1/4 inch electrical tape to frame the pieces. Then I used sticker and rub on so the only thing stamped was the inside of the card and it says 'Have a spooky Hallo-ween'. Its cute and I enjoy doing cards like this.Again on this one I just put paper together on Pumpkin Pie CS and then I added some brads on the bottom. I used my Big Shot and cut the black frame and white circle then I colored my cupcake Witch with Copics.
It was a quick and easy card and that's what I needed right now.
The contractor is coming tomorrow to do an estimate on damages to the basement. They are talking about a French ditch in the back yard (I have never heard of that) and then treating the cement walls in the laundry room and family room. Oh for those of you that haven't seen my blog my basement flooded on Monday and I'm dealing with protecting my Studio from water damage. I hope they can rip the carpet out real soon that's the worst thing right now even with the water vacuum and fans it still smells. So I'll try to make a card tomorrow while I wait for the contractor to show up, if not I'll have to pull another card out of my stash.
God Bless you and your families.

The Eagle has landed

Well this is a favorite image of mine, I am mesmerized by Eagle's although we only saw 2 on our Alaskan cruise. I used SU confetti cs, TAC DSP for both layers and I used the SU Corner punch on my Pearl Ex Paper I made . I colored the image with Copic's E57, E55, E33, Y18, & YR15 set is from Our Daily Bread. Quick and simple because I made it yesterday since today I had Noooooooooooooo time for my Studio.

Remember my post yesterday about the rain and how everything is soaked to the bone. Ever hear of the saying 'When it rains it pours'? Well this positive person who tries so hard to be happy 24/7 lost it today. About 5 years ago today a pipe broke in my new home that I had only been in for a few days, it flooded the basement and made one huge mess. Today as I was taking out the trash my foot didn't even get past the last step into the basement when I felt the mussy, squishy carpet and I almost cried. I opened the laundry room door and saw it over an inch of water on the floor and oh I could just see deja-vue. I couldn't even reach over and unplug the washer & dryer so I hit the circuit breaker. To make a long story short I was flooded but I made matters worse by pulling the washer away from the wall and the pipe burst. I had to climb up on the counter and turn the water off to the house but for some reason it didn't shut off all the way so I had to turn off the main water valve at the road. My carpet is soaked 3 feet into my Studio and the den is soaked 1/3 of the way. I called the Insurance Company they'll get here tomorrow. Then I called my handyman he fixed my pipe and told me the foundation is leaking, there is mold behind the washer, dryer and along the wall. My wet vac isn't working right so I turned on the fan....and guess whats in the forecast for the next 4 days R A I N, R A I N, R A I N.

Life is grand, God is good, and I'm sure tomorrow will be a better day!
God Bless.

Trick or Treat

This card was fun to make its SU retired Halloween Hedgehog image that was sent to me and I just got the paper at Michael's for $2.00. I made the card out of Pumpkin Pie cs from SU then layered it with DSP. I used Copic's to color the image but now I can't find the recipe I wrote on it. I put a cute little Happy Halloween sticker on it and away we go. This is one of about 35 I'm sending to the Cards for Heroes this month.

Yep just about 6 short weeks till Halloween is upon us. I can remember the excitement of making a costume and walking through the neighborhood with all my friends Trick or Treating. Yep that was a whole lotta years ago un-huh a lotta lotta years but we never worried about running from house to house nor if our candy was OK. Now geez, do people even go door to door anymore? In the five years we've lived here I've only had 2 girls the first year and 3 little ones the next year. Last year my neighbor brought her 1 year old daughter here then went on to the block party.

My second card I made with Pumpkin Pie from SU and some black & some white SU. I used Copic's to color the dog which is a image from Penny Black Studio's. I used YR18, YR15, YG67, E79 & E71 and I had a lazer die cut I put on there along with the cutie spider on the right bottom corner. I sure hope this goes through to the soldiers, they have some requirements and I don't know if I stepped over the line with the plastic spider. I have lots more images to color for Halloween so stay tuned for more cards.
God Bless
Love ya all bunches.
Thank you Sandy for image corrections your smart!

Perking me UP!

What happened to the color in this? Its so pretty with the Copic markers Y32, YR65 & BG72 on Basic Gray DSP and Pumpkin Pie cs. I made my bow with the cool dowels and it makes them perfect every time. Now I want to slip in something right here....Becky if your reading this you better make a comment cause I don't believe you read each post. I really need reassurance that what I'm doing is good or I'll quit and you don't really want me to quit do you?

Ok all is well here as I sit here this evening, I'm really getting bored with all the rain and more rain oh and then they are predicting more rain all next week. Geez that sure will get a woman depressed, I don't mind rain we need it but I live in the southeast not the northwest. I don't know how people can stand living where it rains all the time. The only thing good about it is I can't mow the lawn but if and when I do I'll be able to bale hay, to bad I don't have horses anymore.

Well guess I'll close for the night but before I go I want to thank each and everyone of you that said prayers for my daughter Vicki. She really is a big part of my life and I thank God each day for answering all our prayers to save her life. God bless you all.

Yeehaw its the weekend!

Yep its the weekend and for some that's their freedom for me its another day but I still love the weekends. Everyone is relaxed, chillin and havin fun. I had fun today by making cards. My first card is all Stampin Up oops I made the background paper so its not quite all SU. Its a standard card and I used R81 and B21 Copic's to color the boot which is from SU Yeehaw Stamp set. I used wax thread dragged it in olive stamp pad and use that as stems to the felt flowers from guess who SU. Oh the center to the flowers are from Debi Nicols so I don't know who made them. I just think its a cute card.

My second card is an image from Sandy and I colored the little girl stamp is from Whipper Snapper with Copics E31 & E33, G09 & G94, Y11 &Y06 for the watermelon I used R29 & R000 with Crystal Effects. I used Handsome hunter cs and the K & Co. DSP a slim piece of green ric rak, pretty flower and butterfly. I haven't been putting a greeting on them lately because that way I can used them and complete them when something comes up.

I miss our group STTF I only get about 10 emails everyday and there not from the girls. It was such a great place to go and just rant or speak your piece. Everyone was there for each other and if you didn't check in for a few days someone was always there to check on you. We might have been all over the U.S.A. but we were cyber friends and we confided in each other. It's sad to think that a couple of people can rip you all apart over little or nothing, but hey no one's talkin to me.

God Bless you all.

Caffeine & Friends...the perfect blend!

Yep I'm a coffee person as a matter of fact its 87 degrees outdoors but I'm sitting here enjoying my evening cup of coffee with French Vanilla added. Now I have always taken my coffee black for some 40 years or more but about two years ago my brother introduced me to favored creamers and although I've tried a few I only like FV. So to me coffee cards are perfect and these images are from SNS. The cardstock is SU and the DSP is K & Co. and the pretty ribbon on the bottom of the card is Michael's dollar specials.
My second card is SU cardstock with TAC DSP and the darling circle salutation is from Justrite Stamping. Love the browns and oranges because fall is finally on the way and I'm so very happy. I love fall its the prettiest time of the year and brings on the holidays this year I will be more thankful for all my blessings and especially thankful for more time with my daughter Vicki.
God bless you all.

Top Note Cards

Well it all started a few weeks ago when I learned how to make these top note cards and since then I've used alot of my scraps to put together these fun cards then I had to go borrow a friends Top Note Die to do this all. It was worth it I love how they turned out. My first one is Gina K paper that I downloaded from Gina K's store then I used 1 inch white organza ribbon with brown ric rak as an accent with some dew drops as bling.

My second one is my butterfly paper my precious friend Becky wrapped my presents in one time and I saved it and ironed it back to normal then I cut it into 4 X 5 1/2 pieces. I did have some scraps and so I used them. Just take a piece of paper 3 3/4 X 5 inches and use it as the backing of your squares that are 1 1/4 each. Make up your pattern and when you have them glued down good put the paper through the Big Shot and waaaa laaaaaaaaa a cute quilt. I used the Martha Stewart butterfly punches some mini rhinestones and some fun pearl string I found at Hobby Lobby.

This top Note is fun colors and I love the bow. I just learned how to make that and its so easy, cut ribbon depending on how long you want the bow fold it over and anchor it with a couple glue dots then cut a short 1 1/2 inch fold it over the bow making the top part and anchor it with more glue dots. I know that sounds confusing but its really easy and it makes such a pretty bow.

My last card is quite Christmas - z. I use the same bow technique and I used a white pen from SU to mark the cardstock like stitches. Its OK and I like it, actually I love the top note cards and plan on making more stay tune I had fun water coloring and finishing these cards today. I spent the day relaxing and thanking God for his precious gifts especially those involving Vicki. I'm not a super religious person but each day I will remember to thank God for all his blessings.
God Bless.

Rainy's been at it again

Rainy my cat has been at it again, he loves to design with Fiber (if you saw a previous post with his Christmas deco) somehow I locked him in my Studio for a few hours and he explored everything and found a way into the fiber drawer. Well this is how well he decorated and it made me laugh with all that has been going on so that was worth it.

I'll post my cards I made today in a short bit.
God Bless

Praise God for all things

One week ago today my precious, beautiful, wonderful daughter had a stroke. Vicki is 40 years young and was at work in Sky Ridge Medical Women's Center when it hit. She was tired she said and had a headache so she went to the back of the nurses desk into their kitchen to get a drink and take some aspirin. Fortunately one of the girls asked her a question and when she looked at Vicki she saw her mouth drooping and heard the slurred speech. The girls immediately called for a wheelchair and rushed her to ER. I was notified about 2 hours later to come to the ER by my granddaughter. They were air-vacking her to Erlanger since SKMC wasn't equip to treat her. Erlanger notified us she had a blood clot on her right side of her brain and they had the Mercer wand and wanted permission to remove the clot from her brain. By this time it had been over three hours that she had gone without oxygen to that part of the brain and permanent paralysis sets in. They didn't give her much chance for survival but Praise the Lord and all that were praying for her Dr. Lloyd performed gloriously and removed the clot. She had two stints put in her aorta from tears but she was clot free and they said it was a matter of her waking up and what type of paralysis she would have.
Fast forward one week and many Ultra sounds, EKG's, blood tests and tears she is on the mend although they still don't know what caused it. She is still in Neuroscience ICU and on bed rest, she has all her movement and control back with an exception of a little draw down on her mouth but other than that she will recover 100%. Her husband Allen, her three children Justin 21, Ryan 19, Lindsey 17, and me have spent our time in the ICU waiting room. Tuesday the kids resumed school and work so they haven't seen Mom but I've gone each day to the only 3 scheduled visits they allow. I'm sure she's tired of seeing me but like I told her I brought her into this world so.........
My blog, my life and my goals were all put on hold while my precious daughter fought for her life. Never in my wildest dreams did I every expect this to happen to my healthy, bright and beautiful daughter but it did and my world collapsed. Now we take one day at a time as the doctor says there is a 75% chance of her having another stroke within the next six months. My heart goes out to anyone that has been through something like this, my friend Debi I thought of you often while I sat and waited to hear good news about Vicki. I pray all is well with Dave and that your both doing well since his quad droople bi-pass. I will get back into making cards and using my Copics as soon as Vicki is home and we have answers.
I want to say thank you to each and everyone of you that prayed for Vicki and I must absolutely thank my God above for his love and for the strength he gave me to make it through the past week. Thank all of you for letting me ramble this has been a hard week but the sun is shining and God has answered my prayers so I will get back to living now and thanking everyone for so much love.
God Bless you all.

Hippy Hippo

Yep its another Whipper Snapper image I received from a friend and its so cute. I used Copic's and colored the image then I mounted it several times on some DSP and SU cardstock. I used Spica to the confetti to make it sparkle and dew drops to highlight the corners.
Now I won't get into the talk about SU stuff but I do have to say that at one time I was a demo for SU and I love their cardstock and alot of their stamp sets but I love to be different so I branched out and now I buy any kind of stamps I want. Stick with me and you'll see all the zany stamps I have.
God Bless
